Shouting Into The Void

Hello, I'm [Intentionally Left Blank]. This is my shouldn't-be-on-the-internet thought-dump journal. I have other pages as well.

Why I Made This Blog

My mother always told me that I should write. "Why should I?", I argued. There is so much content today. So many stories. So many voices. It's overwhelming, and I want to see it all, and there isn't enough time in our lives for that. I want to step aside and let others speak for themselves, discover what they have to say, present their work to others. What could I say that hasn't been said already, more eloquently, thousands of times over?

I've realized that I don't need to write for anyone else. I can write for myself. Traditional journals are completely private, but why not shout into the void? If someone happens to listen, cool. Hello.

As for what triggered that realization? Mechsploitation. Dun dun DUUUUUUUUUN! Consider that a declaration of whether children should be reading any of this. (You probably shouldn't. You will anyways. You probably should.) The thing about mechsploitation as a genre is that it's shameless. Well, it's often chock-full of a particular kind of shame, but it's self-indulgent, fearless, transgressive and raw. Everything I wish I was capable of being. Something about it made a lightbulb go off in my head. No one is listening. I'm just noise. People will hate me. I might have my "X is Problematic" moment. If I'm not problematic to someone, I'm not living. I won't be problematic to anyone, because no one is listening. No one will care. I'm just shouting into the void.
